I am writing in support of the Greek proposal to address some of the most visible and pressing issues at Dartmouth today. Although coming up with the perfect plan to mitigate bad behavior in these areas will no doubt be difficult to enact and enforce, it is my strong belief that eliminating Greek Life is not the correct course of action. The core issue is “why do people continue to act so inappropriately?” I do not believe that fraternities and sororities are at the root of the problems that Dartmouth is facing today. I can only say that my personal involvement in a fraternity many years ago helped teach me about leadership, comradery, loyalty, open mindedness, responsibility and accountability. I would have never received those benefits living in a dorm room for 4 years.
