I am writing in support of the Greek proposal to address some of the most visible and pressing issues at Dartmouth today. The Greek system was a source of support and friendship that was vital to my Dartmouth experience. Though I have been out of college for nearly 10 years, I am still close friends with many of my fraternity brothers. In fact, I met my wife at one of their weddings. The bonds I shared with my brothers and the memories that I made with them have lasted far beyond any singular class or Dartmouth sponosored event. In addition, the level of maturity that the current Greek system has displayed in recognizing ways in which they can positively move forward should be commended. As a former member of the SEMP Committee, I understand how difficult it is to bring about change in these types of social settings, and I believe that the proposals that these students have made will lead to a safer and more inclusive Dartmouth, while continuing to allow these students the chance to enjoy all the things that makes Dartmouth a unique and memorable experience.
