As a 17 who recently joined a Greek house, I feel strongly that it has been, and will continue to be, an immensely positive experience. I have already started to feel connections to the house and the other members that I predict will last far beyond my time as a student here. I now have 70-80 brothers that act as friends, role models, study partners, advisors about course selection, squash partners, lunch dates, and at the most basic level, more friendly faces on campus that are happy to see me. During freshman year of college, I participated in a wide variety of groups and clubs on campus, but none were nearly as comprehensive or supportive as my fraternity has been so far. The phrase “finding your place” is thrown around a lot with respect to the college experience, and I finally feel like I have begun to settle down and find that place. Joining a Greek house has been a huge part of my satisfaction about sophomore year and my increased comfort and enjoyment of the college experience.
